Years ago, my cousin and I loved to look through magzines with pictures of pretty, expensive dolls we could never afford and cut them out, it was a great past-time of ours. We were amused for hours. I still remember those cut-outs down to this day. There were so many, kings and queens, cheerleaders, a doll in a tan coat, angels, stars, goddesses, you name it, we had it, and we kept these precious papers in a pink box under my bed for safe-keeping. But of all the dolls in those cut-outs, there was none I loved more than the Fairy of the Forest. I had had the pleasure of seeing her at a store going out of business once before and completely fallen in love with the doll. To have a picture of her to keep was wonderful. I had never seen a doll so pretty, the colouring, the glitter, the fact that the magazine stated she had pointed ears...she was just everything I imagined a fairy to be.
Finding this doll on amazon was like a dream come true for me. And it did not disappoint. She's a perfect doll. Her ears ARE pointed, her clothes are beautiful, her hair is beautiful, she's glittery, and she looks great on display!
The box she arrived in was a little beat up, but the doll herself was perfectly fine and she arrived much more quickly than I expected, so I had no real complaints about the crushed box.
One thing I did not care for though was how the doll was packaged. The back of her clothes are unbuttoned to hold her in place on the cardboard and needed to be snapped up the second she was out. Also there were these white plastic bits, also to keep her attached to the cardboard (by the head), that had to be cut away, and it was so hard to get a grip on these things and see properly that I was scared I'd cut off some of her pretty hair by mistake, and goodness knows that would have been a shame after waiting so long for a fairy of the forest of my very own!
That said, I have no other complaints. She's perfect. Just Perfect. She isn't, however, for a child to play with, she'd be too easy to ruin. She looks gorgeous on her stand, though. (The stand itself isn't very good, but it's passable. I was hoping for something a little better, something that at least said "fairy of the forest" on it and that she could stand on without wobbling like she was in a giant earthquake, but it's fine and I'm not complaining.
